Apple to Lease New Office Building in Culver City

Apple is planning to lease a four-story 128,000 square-foot office building in Culver City, reports Los Angeles real estate news site The Real Deal.

The building, located at 8777 Washington Boulevard, was originally going to be leased by HBO, but HBO backed out. The location includes office space and 4,500 square feet of ground-level retail.

TSMC Won’t Make Official Decision About Building U.S. Plant Until 2018

Apple supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company won’t make a decision about moving some of its chip manufacturing into the United States until sometime in 2018, according to company spokesperson Michael Kramer (via Reuters).

Although recent reports have focused on Foxconn’s potential move stateside for Apple-specific iPhone manufacturing, TSMC chairman Morris Chang in January mentioned that the supplier was not ruling out the U.S. as a location for one of its foundries.

Minecraft Player Spends 232 Hours Building Apple Campus 2

Apple’s spaceship-shaped campus in Cupertino, California has been under construction for several years and is one of the most expensive, ambitious buildings in the United States.

While Apple has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on the campus, which is slated to open later this year, Minecraft player Alex Westerlund has been building a Minecraft version of Apple’s second campus.

According to Westerlund, building the campus in Minecraft took him 232 hours over the course of a year. He used construction plans along with topographical maps to create an accurate rendition of the campus, down to the land it’s built on.

Jimmy Iovine on the Future of Apple Music: ‚We’re Building the Right Hybrid‘

Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine spoke with Billboard in a wide-ranging interview that was shared this afternoon, where he shared his thoughts on his team, the importance of merging technology and popular culture, and the future of Apple Music.

According to Iovine, Apple is aiming to build a music service that is both „technologically and culturally adept,“ bridging technology with art and music creation. He declined to share details on what that might look like, but said Apple is aiming for „the right hybrid.“
