Apple Donating $1 Million to Fire Relief Efforts in Northern California

Apple has pledged to donate $1 million to fire relief efforts in Northern California, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

In addition to donating $1 million, Apple will also match employee donations two-for-one.

Steve Jobs Opera Coming to California and Washington After Santa Fe Premiere in July

An opera exploring the life of the late Steve Jobs has won the financial backing of opera companies in San Francisco and Seattle, ensuring the musical production will be shown in the Apple co-founder’s home state of California (via CBS SF Local).

The partnerships were announced on Tuesday, ahead of the premiere of „The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs“ this July at the Sante Fe Opera’s open-air summer stage, in the foothills of New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Apple Asks California DMV to Make Changes to Autonomous Vehicle Testing Policies

Apple has asked the California DMV to alter the rules that require it to publish detailed public reports about the success of Apple’s self-driving car tests, according to papers shared by the DMV. If the DMV complies with Apple’s request, less information would be included in the reports. [PDF]

Apple Receives Permit From California DMV to Test Self-Driving Cars

Apple has been granted a permit that enables it to test autonomous vehicles on public roads in the state of California, according to the California DMV website (via Business Insider).

Apple was added to the list of permit holders that are allowed to participate in the Autonomous Vehicle Tester Program in California on Friday, joining companies like Google, Tesla, BMW, Honda, Ford, Nissan, and more.
