Apple Exploring North Carolina, Northern Virginia for New Campus

For the last several months, Apple has been exploring locations for a new campus focusing on technical support, and according to new reports, sites in North Carolina and Northern Virginia are under consideration.

The Washington Post says Apple has explored opening a campus for 20,000 employees in Northern Virginia, an area Amazon is also considering for its new campus.

Apple Maps Transit Directions Now Available in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville Areas of South Carolina

Apple Maps has been updated with transit data in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville, enabling navigation and directions with public transportation in South Carolina’s three largest metropolitan areas.

By selecting the Transit tab in Apple Maps on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, users can now access bus routes from The COMET in Columbia, CARTA in Charleston, and Greenlink Transit in Greenville. These local bus routes complement existing support for Amtrak train service in South Carolina added to Apple Maps in late 2016.

Apple Sees Success With Efforts to Protect Working Forests in North Carolina

Apple’s partnership with The Conservation Fund to protect working forests has begun to show returns for both Apple and the state of North Carolina, according to information the organization shared with the Triangle Business Journal.

Apple vice president of environment, policy and social initiatives Lisa Jackson shared the article covering Apple’s conservation efforts on Twitter this afternoon.

North Carolina Law Students Must Disable MacBook Pro Touch Bar App Functionality for 2017 Bar Exam

North Carolina law students who purchased one of Apple’s new MacBook Pro models that include a Touch Bar will need to disable much of its functionality to be able to use their MacBooks on the upcoming 2017 Bar Examination, according to a new notice put out today by the Board of Law Examiners of the State of North Carolina.

According to the notice, applicants will need to disable the Touch Bar’s ability to be used with apps through the System Preferences before they can use their computers to take the test.
