Apple to Release AirPods With New Coating and Black Color in the Spring

Apple is planning to release AirPods that feature a new surface coating, wireless charging, and a black color option, according to a report from Taiwanese Economic Daily News.

Apple supplier Inventec has been manufacturing the new AirPods and is ready to ship them in the spring, perhaps alongside the AirPower, which is now in mass production.

AirPods 2 with Grip Coating and AirPower Said to launch this Spring

Apple’s forthcoming second-generation AirPods will feature a new design and improved audio performance, while its AirPower wireless charging pad will launch in the Spring, a new report claims today.

Rumor site MySmartPrice said one of its „trusted sources“ claims the AirPods 2, tipped for release this year, will offer better bass response thanks to improved internals, and both the earbuds and case will include a special matte coating to enhance grip, similar to a coating used on the glass back of Google’s Pixel 3 phone.

Front Camera Lens on Future iPhones Could Be Invisible With Special ‚Pure Black‘ Coating

iPhone camera lens supplier Largan Precision is developing a special black coating for front-facing smartphone camera lenses, according to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Chinese investment firm GF Securities.

Pu’s research note, shared by Taiwanese publications Economic Daily News and MoneyDJ, claims that one or two smartphone makers could adopt the technology as early as 2020. Given that Largan already has a relationship with Apple, it is speculated that the special coating could be applied to future iPhones.

Apple Extends Free Repairs of Anti-Reflective Coating on Select MacBook and MacBook Pro Models

Apple has extended free repairs of anti-reflective coating issues for all 12-inch MacBook models and 2013 or newer MacBook Pro models.

Apple has authorized coverage within four years from the original purchase date of an affected MacBook or MacBook Pro, according to an internal document distributed to Apple Authorized Service Providers and later obtained by MacRumors.

Eligible 12-inch MacBook or 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models qualify for a free display replacement within the four-year coverage period.
