Apple Expands Availability of Refurbished 2018 MacBook Air, Mac Mini to U.S. and Canada

Apple has begun selling certified refurbished 2018 MacBook Air and Mac mini models in the United States and Canada for the first time, following availability in several European countries starting Friday.

In the United States, refurbished pricing starts at $1,019 for the base model MacBook Air, down from $1,199 brand new, and $679 for the base model Mac mini, down from $799 brand new. Various other custom configurations are available for each Mac with discounts up to 15 percent versus brand new prices.

Apple Expands Transit Directions to New Areas, Introduces More Indoor Maps for Malls and Airports

Transit directions for Apple Maps have recently expanded to encompass the entirety of multiple states and countries, Apple today confirmed in an update to its Feature Availability page.

Transit directions are now available across all of Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, North Dakota, New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Texas.

Apple Pay Expands to BNP Paribas and HSBC Banks in France

Apple Pay adoption received a big boost in France today as two major banks officially announced their support for Apple’s mobile payment system.

HSBC officially launched a dedicated support page for Apple Pay, confirming an earlier discovery by French tech news site iphon.fr.

Meanwhile, BNP Paribas made good on an announcement last month to bring Apple Pay support to its customers by announcing the compatibility of its Visa bank card with Apple’s digital wallet on compatible Apple devices.

Apple News Expands to Canada in iOS 12.2 and macOS 10.14.4

iOS 12.2 and macOS Mojave 10.14.4, available in a beta capacity for developers as of this morning, expands the availability of Apple News app to Canada for the first time.

Canadian iPhone, iPad, and Mac owners can use Apple News in both English and French, with Apple’s release notes indicating a bilingual experience is available when following a channel in a second language.

Apple says that publications available during the beta testing period do not reflect all of the content that will be available, and Top Stories and Digests are not updated as frequently as they will be when the feature officially launches.
