Google Maps on iPhone Getting New Commuting Features and Apple Music Integration This Week

Google Maps will soon feature an all-new Commute tab that provides one-tap access to live traffic and transit information.

The new tab will tell you if your commute is going to be a normal one, or if you’ll need to budget extra time due to things like an accident or heavy traffic. Google is introducing support for mixed-mode commutes that involve both driving and public transit, with helpful information along each leg of the trip.

In addition, transit riders in 80 regions worldwide will be able to see exactly where their bus or train is in real time on the map. Starting in Sydney, Australia, Google Maps will also indicate how full the next bus or train is. [...]

Apple Updates Logic Pro X and MainStage 3 With New Features

Apple today updated Logic Pro X, its software designed for professional audio editing. Version 10.4.2 of Logic Pro X introduces several useful new tweaks and updates to Logic Pro X features.

Users can now relocate the Sound Library to an external storage device if desired, and Smart Tempo is able to analyze tempo data across multi-track recordings to define a Project Tempo. Smart Tempo also now analyzes the tempo of MIDI performances recorded without a metronome, and a new mixer mode lets channels strip fader and pan controls.

Multiple Mac Apps Updated With Support for macOS Mojave’s Dark Mode and Other New Features

With the release of macOS Mojave today, third-party Mac app developers are releasing updates to take advantage of features like Dark Mode and other new Mojave additions.

Dark Mode options in third-party apps will let them blend right in to Mojave’s new Dark Mode, which is a systemwide dark theme that can be used in lieu of the traditional light mode theme. We’ve rounded up a list of prominent apps that are embracing macOS Mojave’s new features.

Skype Calling Features Coming to Alexa Devices Later This Year

Microsoft has revealed that Skype is coming to Alexa devices. The partnership between Microsoft and Amazon means that owners of devices in Amazon’s Echo range will soon be able to make outgoing Skype voice and video calls, accept incoming Skype calls, and also make SkypeOut calls to most phone numbers around the world.

Announcing the upcoming feature in a blog post, Microsoft said device owners will be able to say something like „Alexa, call Jimmy on Skype,“ or if Jimmy is calling you on Skype, they’ll be able to say, „Alexa, answer.“
