watchOS 4.3.1 Beta Hints at Future Support for Third-Party Apple Watch Faces

Apple may be considering allowing third-party developers to create custom Apple Watch faces, if a line of code discovered in the latest watchOS beta is anything to go by.

Historically, Apple has resisted allowing third-party developers to create and release custom watch faces for Apple Watch, instead electing to add to its stock options for watch faces in successive iterations of the device’s operating system, such as the Siri and kaleidoscope watch faces introduced in watchOS 4.

iOS 11.3 Firmware Subtly Hints at iPad With Face ID

Apple is planning to release a next-generation iPad Pro this year with slim bezels and Face ID, like the iPhone X, according to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg News, and evidence of the tablet may have been uncovered in iOS 11.3.

BBC iPlayer Update Hints at Imminent Release of Apple’s TV App in the UK

BBC’s iPlayer app received an update this morning that is fueling speculation online that Apple’s TV app will hit U.K. shores imminently.

iPlayer’s changelog for version 4.35.0 of the app simply lists „support for the new Apple TV app, available to users with devices running iOS 11.2 and above“.

Apple’s TV app – billed as an easy way to watch your favorite movies and TV shows in a single place – has been available in the United States since December of 2016, but remains absent from Apple TVs and iOS devices in the United Kingdom and across the rest of Europe.

Supply Chain Hints at Apple Releasing Augmented Reality Headset No Later Than 2019

Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta Computer, a primary assembler of the Apple Watch, has revealed that it is working on an augmented reality product for an undisclosed company that some industry observers believe is Apple.

Google Glass Enterprise Edition Quanta’s vice chairman C.C. Leung suggested the device will be a „headset-like gadget with a fully transparent lens that allows users to see through and interact with the environment,“ according to Nikkei Asian Review.

„Currently, we see such a device available in the market no later than the year 2019,“ he told reporters after the company’s earnings conference.
