A few days after Norwegian news site Dagens Næringsliv accused subscription music service Tidal of being months behind on royalty payments, as well as falsifying and inflating streaming numbers, Music Business Worldwide now reports that Tidal has learned of a „potential data breach“ on its platform.

PayPal this week announced plans to acquire the Swedish-based payments hardware company iZettle for $2.2 billion, with a plan to expand its presence in brick and mortar stores thanks to iZettle’s technology. The acquisition will also help PayPal bolster its business across iZettle’s main markets of Europe and Latin America (via Bloomberg).

Subscription based music service and Apple Music competitor Tidal is months behind on its royalty payments to record labels according to a report from Norwegian news site Dagens Næringsliv that was translated by Music Business Worldwide.
Multiple sources have said that Tidal has not making timely payments to „three major international companies,“ claims confirmed by two Norway-based labels: Propellor Records and its distributor, Phonofile, a company owned by Sony.
Phonofile CEO Sveinung Rindal said that reports of delayed payments are correct, while Propeller Recordings CEO Frithjof Boye Hungnes said the company had not been paid since October. [...]
Instagram has added a native payments feature that’s currently available to some Instagram users, reports TechCrunch.
The payments feature allows Instagram users to add a credit or debit card to Instagram to make purchases of advertised products and services directly within the Instagram app.
Instagram already has a shopping feature through Shoppable tags, but it requires users to access a third-party website to complete payments, so it is not the same as the new native option.
An Instagram spokesperson told TechCrunch that native payments are currently available to some users for booking appointments at locations like restaurants and salons. [...]
