Apple Pay Head Jennifer Bailey to Deliver Keynote at World’s Largest Payments Technology Event

Apple Pay vice president Jennifer Bailey will be the keynote speaker at TRANSACT, the world’s largest payments technology event.

Bailey, who leads the Apple Pay team under Apple services chief Eddy Cue, will discuss how Apple is bringing customers and merchants an „easy, convenient, and secure payments experience,“ according to the announcement.

„I’m thrilled to talk to the payments industry at TRANSACT,“ said Bailey. „We have a great story to tell about how we are working to bring customers even better payment experiences in all aspects of their daily lives.“

Qualcomm Says Apple is $7 billion Behind in Royalty Payments

Apple owes $7 billion in royalties to Qualcomm since halting payments because of its ongoing dispute with the mobile chip maker over unfair licensing practices, according to a court hearing on Friday (via Bloomberg).

Apple began withholding the payments through its manufacturers last year, after the tech giant filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm claiming that the chipmaker was charging unfair royalties for „technologies they have nothing to do with.“ However, Qualcomm maintains its technology „is at the heart of every iPhone,“ and that the royalties are entirely valid.

Consumer Reports Says Apple Pay Cash is the Best P2P Mobile Payments Service

Apple Pay Cash is the highest-rated mobile peer-to-peer payments service on the market, according to a review by Consumer Reports.

In the first comparison of its kind, the Consumer Reports publication looked at the relative pros and cons of Apple Pay Cash, Zella, Square Cash, Venmo and Facebook Messenger P2P payments. Google Pay’s new money-sending feature wasn’t included in the group test, however.

The five services were rated worse or better in terms of payment authentication, data security, data privacy, customer support, and broad access (use not limited to those with a bank account or particular mobile device).

Tidal Investigating ‚Potential Data Breach‘ After Reports of Late Royalty Payments and Inflated Streams

A few days after Norwegian news site Dagens Næringsliv accused subscription music service Tidal of being months behind on royalty payments, as well as falsifying and inflating streaming numbers, Music Business Worldwide now reports that Tidal has learned of a „potential data breach“ on its platform.

Tidal CEO Richard Sanders said in a statement that when the company learned of the potential data breach it „immediately“ began trying to uncover the source, while also reporting it to authorities and taking „proactive“ steps to strengthen the service’s security.
