Apple’s Extended Holiday Return Policy Begins Today, Return Deadline Set for January 8, 2019

Apple today announced that its annual extended holiday return policy begins today in the United States and several other countries around the world.

Under the policy, eligible products purchased between November 14, 2018 and December 25, 2018 can be returned until January 8, 2019 in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and select other regions. You can return something ordered online or purchased in store, and Apple’s policy states that the items can be sent back to Apple for free through the mail or dropped off at any Apple Store.

Shazam Informing Users About Apple Acquisition, Account Data Now Aligned With Apple’s Privacy Policy

Nearly one year after Apple announced its acquisition of music recognition service Shazam, and one month since the acquisition was completed, Shazam has now begun informing users of Apple’s plans with their data (via iGeneration). Now, the requirement will extend to all apps, including basic ones that do not share data in any way.

It does not appear that existing apps on the App Store will be affected by this move until they are updated on October 3 or later, so [...]

Numerous Apps Caught up in Apple’s New App Store Review Policy to Ban Gambling-Related Apps

In an attempt to crack down on gambling-related apps in the App Store, Apple has today implemented a new App Review policy for individual developers, but many apps that are being banned as a result appear to have very little to do with gambling at all.

Our newsstand/news/magazine app just got removed from sale from the App Store 24 hours after our 3.0 update was approved. Reason given: gambling/fraudulent activity. We publish a magazine — nothing to do with gambling or fraud at all. 😞😢😲😱 https://t.co/ewu3mE5FG5 pic.twitter.com/vaKtLthvkW
