Apple Potentially Working on Smart Battery Case for Latest iPhones

It’s been three years since Apple first debuted the $99 Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6, 6s, and eventually 7, which included a rear-facing protrusion that held a 1,877 mAh battery. Apple may be working on a similar accessory for newer iPhone models, according to a discovery made by 9to5Mac in the second beta of watchOS 5.1.2.

Now, the company is said to be seeking an outside partner to help pay part of the funds (via Nikkei).

Japan Display is facing a troubled time due to its speciality of making LCD displays in an era when companies are slowly shifting to OLED-only smartphones, including its main customer Apple, so the restructuring money will go towards installing OLED panel lines at some of its plants. [...]

Apple to Open Flagship Store in Mexico City and Potentially São Paulo

Apple has secured a lease at the Antara Fashion Hall shopping center in Mexico City, where it will open a new flagship retail store, according to a person familiar with the matter. The store’s design will be similar to Apple’s multi-level World Trade Center location in New York City, the person said.

Antara Fashion Hall will mark Apple’s second retail location in Mexico after opening its Via Santa Fe store last year, also in Mexico City. Elsewhere in Latin America, Apple will soon decide whether to open two additional stores in Brazil, potentially including a flagship store in São Paulo, according to our source.

Apple is also exploring leases for [...]
