Apple Has Reportedly Acquired Asaii, a Music Analytics Platform ‚Able to Find the Next Justin Bieber‘

Apple has acquired San Francisco-based music analytics startup Asaii, according to unnamed sources cited by Axios. The deal, which has not been confirmed by Apple, was reportedly worth less than $100 million.

Asaii built tools that allowed music labels to discover, track, and manage artists using machine learning. The platform pulled data from social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and streaming music services such as Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, to find hidden talent.

Apple Music Reportedly Surpasses Spotify Subscriber Count in the U.S.

Apple Music has now surpassed Spotify’s subscriber count in the United States, according to an industry source who spoke to Digital Music News.

The anonymous source, said to be a major U.S.-based distributor, is said to have shared a report with the website detailing the subscriber tallies of several streaming music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM.

Microsoft ‚Movies & TV‘ App Reportedly Coming to iOS

Microsoft may be working to bring its Windows-based Movies & TV app to iOS devices, according to Windows Central.

The app lets users browse and play movies and TV shows purchased from Microsoft’s Store, but it’s only available on Windows 10, Xbox, and Windows 10 Mobile, and Microsoft is apparently eager to bring it over to rival platforms to give consumers more of a reason to buy from its catalog of video content.

Intel Reportedly Halts Development of 5G Modem After Losing Apple’s iPhone Business

Apple has informed Intel that it will not use the chipmaker’s 5G mobile modem in its 2020 iPhones, according to a new report.

Israeli website CTech by Calcalist reported on Wednesday that it had reviewed internal communications from Intel and spoken to „people familiar with the matter“, leading it to conclude that Intel will not provide the 5G modems for Apple’s 2020 mobile devices.
