Withings Brand Returns With ‚Steel HR Sport‘ Hybrid Smartwatch

Withings has returned with a new hybrid smartwatch offering, after one of the company’s co-founders bought the brand back from Nokia earlier this year.

Back in 2016, Nokia acquired health startup Withings in a deal estimated at $192 million, hoping to re-establish its presence in the consumer electronics market. It did so by rebranding Withings‘ line of iOS compatible products under its own name.

Former Tesla Lead Engineer Doug Field Returns to Apple to Work on Project Titan

Apple’s former VP of Mac hardware engineering Doug Field has returned to the tech giant’s ranks after five years working at Tesla, where he oversaw production of the Model 3.

Daring Fireball writer John Gruber broke the news on Thursday after speaking to an Apple spokesperson who confirmed only that Field had returned to the company that he left in 2013.

Field began his career at Ford as a development engineer, before moving on to Segway and then to Apple, and [...]

Among other headlining features, Apple is introducing a new redesigned Mac App Store with MacOS Mojave, and as part of the change, it looks as if Apple has decided to stop delivering system software updates via the Mac App Store’s Updates tab.

Instead, Apple has moved the system update mechanism to System Preferences, and in doing so has re-introduced the Software Update preference pane of old. The re-instated pane, which was [...]

iCloud Messages Returns to iOS in First Beta of iOS 11.3

Apple in iOS 11 promised a new Messages in iCloud feature that will allow customers to save their iMessages in iCloud and sync them across devices. Messages in iCloud was pulled from iOS 11 during the beta testing period, with Apple promising to reintroduce it at a later date.

It was not clear if and when the feature was actually going to be implemented, though, as Apple stripped all mentions of it from the iOS 11 website.

As of iOS 11.3, Messages in iCloud is back and is available for „testing and evaluation purposes,“ marking the official return of the feature. According to Apple’s release notes, once iOS 11.3 beta 1 is installed, Messages will [...]
