Apple Seeds Revised Third Developer Beta of macOS Mojave With Feedback Assistant Crash Fix

One week after Apple seeded the third beta of an upcoming macOS Mojave update to developers, Apple last night released a revised update for the software, fixing an issue where Feedback Assistant would unexpectedly quit for some users.

Apple appears to already have fixed the issue ahead of the second public beta release for macOS Mojave, which hit last Friday, and is now issuing the fix to developers newly downloading the update. Additionally, Apple is offering the revised version to developers who previously installed the original third beta version of macOS Mojave.

The Feedback Assistant app comes built-in with iOS and macOS beta programs, and allows public [...]

iPhone X Supply Revised Lower Yet Again as TrueDepth System Still Faces Production Issues

A new report today yet again suggests that customers looking to get an iPhone X this year might face quite the challenge.

Jeff Pu, an analyst with Taipei-based Yuanta Investment Consulting, has cut his forecast of the number of iPhone X devices that will be produced this year from 40 million units to 36 million. It’s the second time he has revised down his estimate, which originally totaled 45 million earlier this year.

Estimated Supply of iPhone X on Launch Day Revised Down to Just Over 12 Million Units

When the iPhone X launches on November 3, initial supply of the smartphone available to purchase could be limited to around 12 million units, according to Jeff Pu, an analyst at Taipei-based Yuanta Investment Consulting.

Pu told Nikkei Asian Review that Foxconn likely manufactured around 2 million iPhone X devices in September. He said the number should increase to 10 million in October, and reach a total of 40 million by the end of the year, down from his original forecast of 45 million units earlier this year.

If accurate, that means there would be just over 12 million iPhone X handsets available to purchase when the device launches in under six weeks.

Apple Releases Revised Version of Second macOS High Sierra Beta for Developers

Apple today released a revised version of the second macOS High Sierra beta, introducing macOS High Sierra Developer Beta 2 Update 1. The new version of High Sierra comes a little over a week after the second macOS High Sierra beta was first released to developers.

The new beta can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center, and once installed, subsequent betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

Apple earlier this week introduced updated versions of both iOS 11 and tvOS 11, and those beta 2 updates preceded public beta releases, so it’s possible we’ll get a macOS High Sierra public beta release in the near [...]
