AT&T Sued by Sprint for Misleading ‚5GE‘ Branding [Updated With AT&T Statement]

Sprint has filed a lawsuit in federal court against AT&T for its false „5G Evolution“ claims that appeared on some iPhones in iOS 12.2 beta 2 earlier this week, and on Android phones in January (via Engadget). AT&T says that this „5GE“ label indicates to customers when they are in an area where 5G Evolution „may be available,“ but it’s really just an upgraded version of 4G LTE, because any form of 5G on an iPhone is impossible at this point.

Apple Business Chat Expands to Sprint Customers, TD Ameritrade Deposits via Apple Pay, and More

Sprint today announced that customers can now chat directly with its support representatives using Apple Business Chat.

Sprint customers can use Apple Business Chat to message an agent, learn about Sprint plans, and more at any time of the day or night, according to the carrier. Customers can start, stop, and resume conversations at any time.

Apple Business Chat launched in iOS 11.3 in March 2018, enabling iPhone and iPad users to ask for information, schedule appointments, make purchases, and complete other customer service tasks directly in the Messages app.

U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment Clears T-Mobile’s Sprint Purchase, but Approval is Still Needed From Other Agencies

The United States Committee on Foreign Investment, aka Cfius, has approved T-Mobile’s planned takeover of Sprint, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The government agency reportedly told the two companies on Monday that their planned union was approved following months of negotiations with company representatives.

The U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment reviews foreign deals for potential national security issues. Sprint is mainly owned by Japanese telecom group SoftBank, while German company Deutsche Telekom AG is a majority shareholder of T-Mobile’s U.S. arm.
