Ring’s New $199 ‚Ring Alarm‘ Security System Now Available for Pre-Order

Ring, the Amazon-owned company known for its camera-equipped doorbells, today announced that its new Ring Alarm security system is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping out on July 3.

First announced in the fall of 2017, the Ring Alarm is marketed as a „do-it-yourself“ home security system that does not require professional installation, nor are its users required to sign up for a long-term contract.

For $199, the Ring Alarm system includes a Base Station, a Keypad, a Contact Sensor that can be situated on a window or a door, a Motion Detector, and a Range Extender.

Apple Releases Updated Beta of New watchOS 5 Operating System to Developers

Apple this morning seeded an updated beta of an upcoming watchOS 5 update, one week after releasing the first beta after the 2018 Worldwide Developers Conference Keynote. watchOS 5 is the newest version of the software that runs on the Apple Watch.

To install the beta, you’ll need the proper configuration profile, which can be obtained through the Apple Developer Center. Once the profile is in place, the watchOS 5 beta can be downloaded using the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General –> Software Update.

To update, the Apple Watch must have 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the charger, and it must be in range of the iPhone. [...]

macOS 10.14 Mojave Removes Software Update Mechanism From the Mac App Store and Returns it to System Preferences

As the dust settles on Apple’s macOS 10.14 Mojave announcement at WWDC on Monday, developers are already busy digging into the beta version that Apple made available to download shortly after the keynote for testing purposes.

Among other headlining features, Apple is introducing a new redesigned Mac App Store with MacOS Mojave, and as part of the change, it looks as if Apple has decided to stop delivering system software updates via the Mac App Store’s Updates tab.
