Facebook today announced three new mobile app features aimed at helping its users better „create and save memories,“ with a launch in India first and then rolling out to the global community „shortly thereafter“ (via The Verge).
The first feature allows photos and videos taken with Facebook’s in-app camera to be saved directly to a user’s Facebook account in the cloud, and not onto their device’s storage. This is aimed at the India market due to the popularity of cheaper entry-level devices in the country and their inherent storage limitations.

Apple shared a new video on its YouTube channel today that shows off selfies taken with the iPhone X.
The 38-second video cycles through a collection of selfies taken by iPhone X owners using the smartphone’s front-facing TrueDepth lens system and Portrait Lighting effects. The ad also includes poetry by Muhammad Ali.
Portrait Lighting has been the focus of a few recent Apple videos, including two ads that acted as tutorials for the feature. More recently, one from earlier in January explained how Portrait Lighting offers studio quality lighting effects without a studio, while showing off various examples.

When Pinterest acquired keyboard app maker Fleksy last summer, development was paused on the company’s well-known iOS and Android keyboard apps as the team was integrated into Pinterest’s projects. The companies said that Fleksy would continue to exist with minimal updates, but otherwise not much news has come out about the keyboard app, until today.
