New Survey Says Amazon and Google Have a More ‚Positive Impact on Society‘ Than Apple

In a new survey conducted by SurveyMonkey and shared by Recode, 11 percent of respondents said that they believe Apple has the most positive impact on society today. Apple came in third place, however, falling in line behind Google at 15 percent and Amazon in the top spot at 20 percent.

Survey respondents were given the option of choosing between a number of technology companies between April 8-9, and it totaled 2,772 adults based in the United States. When asked which company they believe has the most positive impact on society, 20 percent elected to choose „none of the above.“

Apple Report Reveals Men Are Paid 5% More on Average Than Women in UK

Male employees who work for Apple in the United Kingdom earn five percent more on average than women, according to a UK Gender Pay Gap report released today by Apple [PDF]. The median hourly pay gap was two percent in favor of women, however.

According to Apple, the average pay gap is due to more men holding senior positions at the company, and when factoring in „similar roles, markets, and performance“ it has achieved pay equity. Apple has more than 6,000 employees in the UK.

The Weeknd’s New Single Streamed Nearly Twice as Many Times on Apple Music Than Spotify

The Weeknd’s new single „Call Out My Name“ was streamed 6 million times in its first 24 hours of release on Apple Music last Friday, March 30. As a comparison, Apple Music’s streams of the song nearly doubled Spotify’s 3.5 million streams in the same 24-hour period.

New Sixth-Generation iPad Priced Lower Than Previous Model in Several Countries

The price of the new sixth-generation iPad didn’t change in the United States compared to the previous fifth-generation model, but prices for the new tablet have been lowered in several other countries around the world.

Prior to the launch of the new iPad, rumors had suggested it could be priced as low as $259 in the United States, which did not happen, but the price has indeed dropped slightly in multiple countries.

In the UK, for example, the entry-level fifth-generation iPad was priced at £339, with the new sixth-generation model available for £319.
