True Tone in 2018 MacBook Pro Extends to LG UltraFine and Apple Thunderbolt Displays

When using certain external monitors with the new 2018 MacBook Pro models, the built-in True Tone feature that matches the color of the MacBook Pro’s screen to the ambient lighting in a room will also extend to the connected display.

According to a support document published this morning by Apple, True Tone can adjust the Apple Thunderbolt Display using an Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, the LG UltraFine 5K Display, and the LG UltraFine 4K display.

Former Apple Sound Designer Discusses History Behind ‚Sosumi‘, Mac Startup Tone, and Camera Click

In the late 1980s Jim Reekes began working as a sound designer for Apple, creating some of the Mac’s most iconic sounds like the „Sosumi“ beep, startup chord, and camera/screenshot click. In a new interview with CNBC, Reekes discussed the origins behind each of these sound creations, and what he thinks about the current audio design of Apple devices. How to Control and Tweak a True Tone Display on iPhone and iPad

Last year, Apple brought a display feature called True Tone to its flagship iPhone line-up for the first time, following the technology’s debut in 2016 with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

True Tone works by adjusting the color temperature of a device’s screen to match the surrounding ambient light, so that images on the display appear more natural and are less apt to contribute to eyestrain.

Adobe Lightroom CC v1.1 for Desktop Brings Enhanced Auto Mode, Split Tone Effect, and More

Adobe on Tuesday released Lightroom CC v1.1 for macOS, bringing some additional features and enhancements to the photo editing suite, including support for new cameras and lenses.

Top of the new feature list is an enhanced Auto mode for automatically applying optimized edits to images. Located in the Light panel in the Detail view, the mode now uses Adobe’s advanced Sensei machine learning to intelligently apply what it considers to be the best edits. By design, Auto adjusts a number of slider controls, including Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Saturation, and Vibrance.
