AirPods Live Listen: Hearing Aid or Spy Tool?

Apple in iOS 12 introduced a new Live Listen feature that’s designed to turn the iPhone into a remote microphone for the AirPods.

Live Listen has been around for years for MFi-compatible hearing aids, but it’s only with the addition of AirPods support that it became available for general iOS users.

T-Mobile Launches ‚Caller Verified‘ Tool to Protect Subscribers From Scammers

T-Mobile today launched a new „Caller Verified“ feature that’s designed to offer its customers more protection from scammers and spammers who spoof legitimate phone calls to attempt to fool smartphone owners.

Caller Verified uses the STIR and SHAKEN standards that are in place to combat illegal caller ID spoofing.

Right now, T-Mobile’s implementation of Caller Verified is limited. It’s only available on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and it is limited to the T-Mobile network.

This is Apple’s ‚Zombie Check‘ Tool Used to Reduce iPhone Repair Fraud

Last week, The Information’s Wayne Ma reported about a sophisticated fraud scheme in which organized thieves would buy or steal iPhones, remove valuable components like the processor or logic board, swap in fake components, and return the purposefully-broken iPhones to receive replacements they could resell.

iPhone Serial Number Reader Apple became aware of the increasing fraud in 2013 and, in the years since, it has managed to „dramatically reduce“ the rate of iPhone-related repair fraud in its retail stores, particularly in China, according to the report.
