Smart Battery Case for iPhone XS Not Compatible With iPhone X [Update: Maybe?]

Apple yesterday debuted new Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, and review units are in the hands of members of the media.

Many iPhone X users have been wondering if the iPhone XS Smart Battery Case will work with the older model given that the two devices are nearly identical in design, but the answer is no.

iMore’s Rene Ritchie tested the iPhone XS Smart Battery Case on an iPhone X and while the case physically fits on the iPhone X, it does not charge.

The speaker and microphone holes on the case do not line up on the iPhone X and when putting the case on the iPhone X, it gives a compatibility error.

Verizon Reportedly Adding Apple Music as Free Perk on Select Unlimited Data Plans [Update: Confirmed]

Verizon subscribers with an iPhone or Android smartphone and a Beyond Unlimited or Above Unlimited data plan will soon have unlimited access to Apple Music at no additional cost, according to documentation obtained by 9to5Mac.

The report claims the free Apple Music subscription is not simply a trial but rather will be offered on an ongoing basis. Verizon’s lower-priced Go Unlimited plan with reduced data speeds will continue to offer a six-month Apple Music trial, as the Beyond Unlimited and Above Unlimited plans currently do.

Apple Seeds Fourth Beta of macOS Mojave 10.14.3 Update to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple today seeded the fourth beta of an upcoming macOS Mojave 10.14.3 update to developers and public beta testers, a few days after releasing the third beta and more than a month after the launch of macOS Mojave 10.14.2.

The new macOS Mojave 10.14.3 beta can be downloaded through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences after the proper profile has been installed from Apple’s Developer Center or the public beta testing site.

CES 2019: U by Moen Smart Shower Set to Gain Long-Promised HomeKit Update

Moen today announced that its U by Moen smart shower system is receiving several upgrades for compatibility with voice assistants, making it easy to turn on and adjust your shower simply by speaking.

The most notable addition for Apple users is HomeKit support, which will reportedly come to U by Moen this quarter, to be followed by Google Assistant integration. U by Moen is already compatible with Amazon Alexa, but Moen is announcing improved integration as a Smart Home Skill, unlocking more intuitive commands.
